Jerhonise Rollins (2016) will be entering her senior season for the Wolves make sure to get out to some games.
Highlights of Week 1 game between Maryland and Baylor courtesy of Patosha Jeffery. Lady Mambas Jerhonise Rollins, Taylor Lattimore, Ty Metcalf and Tann Metcalf are all featured in the video.
Week 1 game featuring super freshman Jayla Hemingway‘s Maryland team vs the dynamic duo of Taylor Lattimore and Ty Metcalf led Baylor team. The game starts off with Jayla (11 points) imposing her will against the smaller Baylor team and with the help of skilled forward Tamia Jones (10 points, 9 rebs) jumped out to the earlier lead. Baylor shook off the early nerves and sparked by their high energy defense and team speed were off and running in transition scoring points in bunches. Taylor Lattimore finished with 17 points, league’s highest scorer began to penetrate to the hoop with ease and show off her athleticism with a few speculator finishes in traffic combined with Ty Metcalf (9 points) breaking the defense with her great vision and speed. Jerhonise Rollins showed her versatility with 3 blocked shots and a nice coast-to-coast finish. Laurissa Campbell showed tremendous improvement from last year’s Fall league as she was aggressive on both ends of the court finishing with 6 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.

Patosha Jeffrey http://memphisgirlsbasketball.blogspot.com recently wrote her thoughts about the Melissa McFerrin Elite Camp. Talent was on full display with some of the area’s best players competing through a series of games and drills. Two things come to mind as I think about this year’s Elite Camp.
1) The talent was in the building!
2) Mississippi was representing!
Bring ‘Em Out! Bring ‘Em Out! was the theme today at the Memphis Elite Camp –because the talent came out.
Olive Branch’s Myah Taylor, Mahogany Vaught, Quienteal Battle, Myah Leflore, and Savanna Geeslin were on deck displaying why they have been in Mississippi’s State Championship game the past 2 years. Desoto Central’s Zaire Hicks, Holly Springs Star Walton, Bartlett’s Charity Savage and Jessica Jackson, Harding Academy’s Antoinette Lewis and Valecia Harris (Love her passion for the game and persistence), FACS’s Shay Johnson, Bolton’s Kerrice Watson (Kerrice has been playing great this spring) Cordova’s Jerhonise Rollins (I love how her game has developed – length and motor) and MHEA’s Kylie Loadholt (I’m telling you now.. Keep an eye on Kylie).
Zaire Hicks looked like the player I saw during last year’s Fall Exposure League high motor, explosive and confidently knocking down shots. I was very impressed to see Mahogany Vaught come out of her shell and play aggressively. She has such a laid back personality and plays that way but I liked that beast side of her.. If she keeps bringing that beast out, her game will be sky-rocketing.
Charity Savage was all over the place as expected. On one play, I watched her get a steal, save the ball from going out of bounds, getting her composure to sprint down the court and get the ball back for a layup. Savanna Geeslin was unconscious behind the 3 point line. Oh course, it was Myah Taylor pulling defenders towards her so she could feed Savanna and others for wide open shots.
My visit to the camp was short which means I missed a face or two. But that was enough to have me excited about the upcoming school season and give me some names to add to my #MGBB Mix Highlight list.
The Lady Mambas are proud of Jerhonise Rollins, Cordova High (2016) as she recently scored a 20 on the ACT including a 21 in English and a 22 in Science.
Keep up the good work!
Leading up to the season we will be releasing one to two minute highlight clips of all our Lady Mambas. The first of the Introducing series is 6’0 Wing/ Forward Jerhonise Rollins (2016).
Jerhonise is a long, lanky athletic shot blocker that runs the floor like a guard and has a nice stroke from deep. She has a non-stop motor and is a high energy player which serves well on both ends of the court. She is extremely disruptive on the defensive end whether she is hounding a ball handler or holding her own against bigs on the block.
